Your Donuts

The 4th in a series of short articles about recent improvements to 2Way Fitness Analytics

This week I want to tell you a little bit about our new "Donuts" Feature.

By clicking "Analyze" then "Donuts", you will see your "Donuts" screen which displays your "Minutes trained by exertion level" and "Minutes trained by tag" data. (For convenience, the donuts are also displayed on your Dashboard and Exercise data entry page).

As you can see, the information is displayed in two pie (donut) charts. The data on display is a rolling or moving figure based on the last 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or 365 days. You can choose which timeframe you wish to view by clicking on the corresponding button at the top of the screen.

Minutes Trained by Exertion Level

The "Minutes trained by exertion level" donut provides instant feedback on the intensity of your training. You will be able to see if you are on track with your plans and goals. You might find that you need to ramp things up or that you need to taper off as a big event looms up. In the example screen shot below you can see that in the last month this athlete has trained 60mins at Level 1 (2.7%), 330mins at Level 2 (15.1%), 585mins at Level 3 (26.8%) and 1,210mins at Level 4 (55.4%). Reviewing this data will assist you to make adjustments to your training program. In this example, the athlete may have been feeling fatigued lately and this donut reveals that they have possibly been spending too much of their training at a high exertion level and need to lighten off a bit.

Minutes Trained by Tag

The "Minutes trained by tag" donut will display how much time, and what percentage of your training time, you are devoting to each different training activity. Each tag, or different training activity, is in a different colour making it easy to view and understand. In the example screen shot below, we can see that in the last 2 weeks this athlete has divided training time up into Paddle 180mins (20.3%), Ride 240mins (27.1%), Run 80mins (9.0%), Swim 165mins (18.6%) and Walk 220mins (24.9%). For most athletes this training time break-up is a crucial component of training program design and monitoring. Should you spend more time on improving your weaknesses or on reinforcing your strengths? How long before an event should you taper off your training? These are the types of questions that 2WayFitness will help you to answer.

Tagdonut

As we are all strapped for time the ability to train smarter and more time efficient is important. By close and careful monitoring of your training intensity, and training tags, you will be able to plan a more balanced and specific training program.

If you have any thoughts about recent changes or you have your own suggestions for improvements you'd like to see, or perhaps you have a problem to report, then we'd love to hear from you in the online forum.
